Is seeking submissions from emerging and established writers for our annual literary journal. Please review our submission guidelines and submit today!

HOME: Welcome

FEATURES

The Kitchenette Review will feature original prose, poetry, music and visual art for its 2022 online issue, in any genre. Inspired by Gwendolyn Brooks’ “kitchenette building,” the review is at the intersection of creativity and community, offering a safe space for artists to share their work while providing readers with diverse perspectives on the world around them. It includes original content written exclusively by Chicago based contributors who are making important contributions within our artistic communities (poets/writers, musicians, visual artists). The review welcomes submissions in many genres but emphasizes poetry, art, music, fiction, and creative nonfiction.

POETRY AND PROSE

The review publishes poetry and prose; creative works inspired by the world and its concerns; and translations that broaden the range of English-language poetry. We are particularly interested in works that explore the intersections of identity, experience, community and art.

Submit your writing today!

ART AND MUSIC

We will feature works from artists and musicians that reflect the vibrancy of Chicago’s art and music communities, as well as the world. Submissions should be creative and exploratory, pushing boundaries and offering new perspectives.

COMMUNITY

The review seeks to build community by featuring the work of local contributors and highlighting the importance of the arts in our neighborhoods. We aim to create a space where artists and readers can come together, share their work, and connect with one another through meaningful conversations.
